After many fits and starts, soul searching, and pining away for the fjords I happened upon a Catalina 30. Glen, Bryan and I went to visit the sailing vessel HONJI in Tonawanda NY in early August. After first having looked at a lovely Newport 33 in Fairhaven NY and being favorably impressed with that sailing vessel we piled into Connie's Murano and shuffled off to Buffalo.
During the discussion of the pros and cons of what we had seen of the Newport 33 we agreed that we should keep an open mind in regard to the Catalina, as we knew that she had been cradled on the hard for the past five years and was likely to be quite rough. This is what we found;
So without looking any further the Newport 33 was forgotten, and the pursuit of the Catalina had begun. As for the title of the post we're in the process of denamimg HONGI and renaming her. So far the leading candidate seems to be a combination of moon and shadow or shadow and moon, anyone's thoughts (or other names) would be happily considered. More later!

I like Moon Shadow.....im not that knowledgeable on proper boat etiquette; but i thought your supposed to name your boat after your "women".....so i think it should be "Connie's Catalina" or "CC" for short (which represents connies favorite place)!
